In 2024, AVA trainer Maria R. served as a Research Associate and Communication Officer for the British Council CPF-funded project on the Preservation of the Buddhist Rock Reliefs in the Swat Valley.
The project focused on documentation, first-aid conservation, and developing strategies for climate change adaptation — a growing concern for vulnerable heritage sites in Pakistan.
Maria played an active role in research coordination, field documentation, and public engagement. Her work also included hosting multiple public events and outreach sessions, helping connect communities with the rich cultural and archaeological legacy of Swat.
In May 2025, she was formally recognized at the project’s launch ceremony at Swat Museum, for her commitment to meaningful communication and cultural preservation.
At AVA, we deeply value trainers with real-world experience and a sense of purpose. We’re proud to support work that not only educates — but preserves and uplifts.
